This series explores optical/perceptual effects produced by applying watercolor washes over an oil pastel under drawing. The juxtaposition of certain colors in proximity produces the retinal effect of depth, as well as changing one’s perception of the colors themselves–as Joseph Albers demonstrated. This print also presents a copy itself in contrasting hues.
